Debt collection

Why did I get a debt collection letter from Uuva Oy?

Our letters always specify the original creditor and the grounds of the debt collection letter, i.e. what is being collected. The client (the original creditor) can be found in the top right corner and the grounds of the debt collection is specified in the comment field of the invoice.

If the debt collection concerns a private parking ticket, the grounds for the ticket are also specified in the letter. Questions and complaints concerning the private parking ticket must be submitted to the original creditor, i.e. the company implementing the parking control.

Please notify us, if a complaint has been submitted to the original creditor regarding the grounds of the debt collection.

Do I need to pay the debt collection agency?

The eligibility of debt collection fees depends on when the invoice was paid, when the debt collection measures where initiated, and if any debt collection expenses have incurred.

If you do not pay the invoice or agree upon a payment schedule with our customer service, the debt collection measures will be continued. When the debt collection measures are continued, you will receive more debt collection letters from us.

It is important to remember that the debt collection expenses will continue to accumulate as the time passes. Extended debt collection measures can lead to a payment default entry in your credit data file.

What kind of expenses will I be subject to concerning the debt collection measures?

The expenses vary. As the rule of thumb, the quicker you pay the invoice, the smaller the expenses.

What is penalty interest?

Penalty interest is an interest that the debtor must pay when the payment is not made by the time limit specified in the contract. The reference rate and penalty interests calculated in accordance with the Interest Act can be found on the website of the Bank of Finland as a percentage table.

I received a debt collection letter. Does this mean that my credit data file now contains a payment default entry?

A debt collection letter does not give grounds to a payment default entry. By paying the invoice by the due date, you can settle the matter without any additional consequences.

I have not received the product that the debt collection letter concerns.

If you have not received the product that the debt collection letter concerns, it is advisable to contact the original creditor (the supplier of the goods) without delay.
